Reverend Mary Jo Dean, Interim Pastor

Rev. Mary Jo Dean is a 2006 alumna of Union Presbyterian Seminary & the Presbyterian School of Christian Education, in Richmond Virginia.  In seminary, she earned both a Master’s of Divinity degree and a Master’s of Christian Education degree.  With special interest in Biblical Hebrew and Old Testament Studies, Mary Jo especially enjoys Old Testament story-telling and preaching.

Ordained intentionally as an Interim Minister, Mary Jo specializes in serving churches in transition. Not only has she served churches in 3 presbyteries of the P.C.U.S.A, she also has served 2 congregations in the Peninsula Conference of the United Methodist Church.   

Born in Delaware, and growing up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, she has served as a commissioner on New Castle Presbytery’s Speer Trust and Presbytery Council, and as keynote speaker of the Presbyterian Women’s Spring Retreat. Most recently, Mary Jo has served the Committee on Ministry of the Presbytery of Plains and Peaks.

A second career minister, Mary Jo experienced her call to ministry while working in a Level Two Trauma Center as a respiratory therapist and cardiac ultrasound technician. She is the proud mother of an active-duty Sailor, currently deployed to the United Arab Emirates.
